Here is a brief history of the inn…
We took over the inn on May 27, 2008, and opened on June 27, 2008 for our first day of operation. The inn was built in the early 1980's with cedar logs shipped from the West and constructed by local Amish craftsmen. The sturdy structure sits in the sandstone bedrock of the Mohican hills above the beautiful Mohican River Valley.
The inn is situated on 45 wooded acres which are covered by rustic trails. We don't drive it or 4-wheel it, we just walk it so we can stay as close to nature as possible. We will continue to develop the trails throughout the coming years and add more benches for meditation and reflection. Our main hope is for you to come and explore and get close to the beauty of this property. Woodland wildflowers, the unique patterns of each mature tree, and the different kinds of moss growing on rocks and on logs, will make this a special time for you to relax and renew. Don't be surprised to see white tail deer, hawks, or bald eagles from the inn's trails and lookouts.
The hills of this property--located on the Wally Road State Scenic Byway--are rich in Native American history as well. Visit the old native Smoke Signal mound located at the highest point of the property on Eagle Ridge, overlooking the confluence of the Lake Fork Tributary into the Mohican State Scenic River. This is one of many that once existed along the Mohican Valley, but which are either gone or no longer accessible.
It is our goal to operate in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Our values are integrity, being a good neighbor in our community, enjoyment of nature, & good stewardship of the natural environment.
